China LRI Pathogen Surveillance & Interaction

Lower respiratory infections (LRIs) are the foremost cause of infection-related mortality worldwide. Based on the real-world pathogen data of China, we provide Life-Stage-Specific Pathogen Spectra, Coinfection Networks, and Sex Disparities in Hospitalized Patients with Lower Respiratory Infections.

Age groups Stratification

Evidence-based eight-group stratification system derived from real-world clinical pathogen spectra, minimizing within-group heterogeneity and maximizing clinical relevance.

Life Stages Pathogen Spectrum

We stratified hospitalized LRI patients into eight distinct age groups: infant (0-1), toddler (1-3), child (4-11), adolescent (12-17), young adult (18-38), middle-aged (39-61), elderly (62-81), and octogenarian (>81 years).

Respiratory Infection Risk in China Coinfection Networks

Data-driven "risk map" for severe lower respiratory infection hospitalizations across China. By analyzing eight distinct life stages, we uncover significant variations in risk by age. Furthermore, we identified high-risk coinfection networks comprising 124 pathogen pairs. A key finding is that pathogens with more similar age distributions have a higher likelihood of coinfection. These insights are crucial for developing targeted prevention and clinical management strategies tailored to specific demographic groups..
